Sourcing

We prefer on-the-record sources. When we grant anonymity, we explain why and we still need a second source or documents for anything accusatory.

Headlines must be supportable by the story. We do not use a question headline to smuggle a claim we could not stand behind as a statement.

Opinion and analysis are labelled. The news report and the column are not the same object.

A factual error is corrected in the article with a note. We do not silently rewrite history.
